Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about my videography services, booking process, pricing and delivery.

Booking & Process

How do I book Silver Birch Videos for my event?

Booking is easy! You can start by sending an enquiry through the consultation form. I will confirm availability, discuss your event, answer any questions, and help you choose the most suitable package.

  1. Send an enquiry through the website
  2. I confirm availability for your event date
  3. I discuss your plans, venue, schedule and film requirements
  4. Your package and booking details are confirmed in writing
  5. A 30% non-refundable booking fee secures the date

Your date is not secured until the booking fee has been received and the booking has been confirmed in writing.

What is your cancellation or date change policy?

The 30% booking fee is non-refundable because it secures your date and prevents me from accepting another booking for that time.

  • If cancellation occurs more than 30 days before the event, payments made beyond the booking fee will be refunded.
  • If cancellation occurs within 30 days of the event, the full remaining balance becomes payable.
  • Date changes are subject to my availability and must be agreed in writing.
  • If I am unavailable for a requested new date, the booking will be treated as a cancellation.

Please refer to the Terms & Conditions page for the full policy.

Do you travel for weddings and events?

Yes. I am based in South Yorkshire and can travel for weddings, celebrations and corporate events across Yorkshire, the UK and selected destination bookings by agreement.

Travel policy:

  • Local: Included within 50 miles of Barnsley, South Yorkshire
  • Regional: Travel fees apply beyond 50 miles (£0.75/mile)
  • Destination bookings: Available by agreement. Travel, accommodation and related costs are quoted separately and confirmed in writing before booking.
  • International bookings: Considered on a case-by-case basis with advance notice, agreed travel arrangements and written confirmation.
  • Travel details will be discussed and confirmed in writing before booking.

Locations requiring overnight accommodation may incur additional costs, which will be discussed and agreed in advance.

Pricing & Packages

What is your pricing structure?

Pricing depends on the service, coverage time and deliverables selected:

  • Wedding Videography: packages shown on the wedding videography page
  • Birthdays & Family Celebrations: packages from £695 to £1,295
  • Corporate Parties & Events: packages from £995 to £1,695
  • Drone Services: available as an add-on or separate service where safe and permitted

All prices are quoted in GBP/British Pounds. Any applicable UK tax position will be shown clearly before booking and on the invoice.

Do you offer payment plans or monthly instalments?

No. I do not offer monthly instalments, payment plans or net 30 payment terms.

  • Booking fee: 30% non-refundable booking fee required to secure the event date
  • Final balance: due no later than 30 days before the event
  • Late payment: failure to pay by the due date may result in cancellation of services

This keeps the booking process clear and consistent with the Terms & Conditions.

Are there any additional fees?

I believe in transparent pricing. Any additional fees are discussed before booking or agreed in writing if something changes after booking. They may include:

  • Additional travel outside the agreed coverage area (£0.75/mile)
  • Extra coverage beyond the agreed package hours (£250/hour)
  • Rush editing service (50% surcharge)
  • Additional locations requiring vehicle travel
  • Special equipment rentals (if required)
  • Special requirements agreed in writing before the event
  • Venue charges, permissions or access fees required by the venue

I do not add hidden fees. Anything outside the selected package will be discussed and confirmed in writing.

Planning & Event Preparation

What information do you need before the event?

Before the event, I will ask for the details needed to plan the filming properly. This may include:

  • Venue name and address
  • Event date and start time
  • Approximate schedule of the day
  • Key moments you want captured
  • Contact details for the venue or organiser where relevant
  • Any restrictions around filming, audio or drone use

The more accurate the schedule is, the easier it is to plan coverage around the important moments.

How long does a typical video shoot or event coverage last?

Coverage time depends on the package selected and the type of event:

  • Birthday & family celebrations: usually 3-8 hours depending on package
  • Wedding videography: usually 6-10 hours depending on package and schedule
  • Corporate parties & events: usually 3 hours to full-day coverage depending on requirements
  • Drone-only filming: usually 1-3 hours depending on location, permissions and weather
  • Engagement films: available only where agreed as an add-on or separate booking

Exact coverage time is confirmed in your selected package or written booking confirmation.

Do you direct people during filming?

For weddings and live events, my approach is mostly natural and unobtrusive. I focus on capturing real moments as they happen rather than turning the day into a staged production.

If a short couple moment, family moment, engagement-style clip or planned shot is requested, I can offer simple guidance so it looks natural on camera. Otherwise, guests should simply enjoy the event.

Delivery & Files

How long until I receive my films?

Typical delivery times are:

  • Wedding films: usually 6-12 weeks
  • Birthdays & family celebrations: usually 3-6 weeks
  • Corporate parties & events: usually 2-4 weeks
  • Drone-only edits: usually 1-3 weeks
  • Short social media teasers: delivery time agreed at booking where included

Delivery times can vary depending on the season, complexity of the edit and workload at the time of booking.

Rush editing may be available by prior agreement and may incur an additional fee. Final films are delivered through an online download link unless another delivery method is agreed.

How will my final films be delivered?

Final edited films are usually delivered digitally through a secure online download link. Depending on the package selected, you may also receive shorter social media versions or additional edits listed in your package.

  • Online delivery link for downloading and sharing
  • Edited films in a suitable high-quality digital format
  • Package-specific highlight, feature, teaser or social edits where included

You are responsible for downloading and backing up your films once delivered.

Do I get copyright or raw footage?

Copyright of all filmed material remains with Silver Birch Videos. Clients receive a personal licence to watch, download and share the final edited films for personal use and social media.

  • Final edited films are included according to the selected package.
  • Raw unedited footage is not included as standard and is not supplied unless agreed in writing.
  • Business or commercial usage must be agreed in writing where relevant.

Drone Services

Are you licensed to fly drones commercially?

Yes. Drone work is carried out by me, Florin, as the drone operator. I operate in line with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements and only fly where it is safe, legal and permitted.

  • UK CAA compliant: drone operations are planned around UK rules and safety requirements
  • Safety first: flights are only carried out when conditions and location allow
  • Venue permission: the client is responsible for confirming that the venue allows drone use
  • Final decision: I reserve the right not to fly if the conditions are unsafe or unsuitable

Drone footage is never guaranteed because it depends on weather, safety, venue permission and legal restrictions.

What are the weather limitations for drone flights?

Drone flights are weather dependent and safety always comes first. Drone filming may not be possible in:

  • Strong wind or sudden gusts
  • Rain, snow, fog or poor visibility
  • Very low or unsuitable light conditions
  • Stormy conditions or nearby lightning
  • Temperatures outside a safe operating range, usually around -10°C to 40°C depending on equipment and conditions

Drone footage is subject to weather conditions, venue restrictions and applicable CAA regulations. If conditions are unsuitable, drone footage may not be possible and no refund will be provided for the drone portion of the service.

Can you fly drones at my wedding venue?

Drone filming may be possible, but it is not guaranteed. The client is responsible for obtaining any venue permissions required for drone operations.

  • The client must confirm that the venue allows drone flights.
  • The client is responsible for any venue permissions, waivers or access requirements.
  • I will plan safe flight paths and coordinate timing around the wedding or event schedule where drone use is allowed.
  • If the venue does not allow drones, or permission is not granted, drone footage cannot be captured.
  • No refund is given if drone footage cannot be captured due to venue restrictions, missing permissions, weather, safety or legal limitations.

I will always make the final safety decision on the day. If it is not safe or appropriate to fly, the drone will stay on the ground.
